Hap's Tomatoes, 4x4 Original Oil

I'll be showing a few reposts while I'm away for several days. I could go for some fried green tomatoes right about now. Why does everything make me think of food?

Make Me a Smoothie, 8x10 Original Oil

Pineapples are so interesting. I've tried very hard to grow them in my yard, but they never do a thing except stab me when I'm weeding. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Neti and Cherries, 5x7

This little Neti Pot is the only thing standing between me and sinus infections. Sometimes the ancient ways are best.

In my email this morning was someone wanting to buy my big painting of Spoonbills...or did they? It was actually the old Nigerian Scam, and it has a new twist for artists. Still the same basic thing, though. It's always recognizable by the bad grammar. They send you a check for more than the painting sells for, and you deposit it and send them back the difference. Their check is worthless, of course. I think I've gotten various versions of this at least 15 times. Someone must be suckered in or they wouldn't keep doing it.

Wavelight, 5x7 Original Oil

Yesterday I went down to the beach and it looked completely different from this. There was no surf, rocks were exposed, and it was very calm. It is different every day, but always beautiful, and no oil. This is the east coast of Florida and all is well so far, no pun intended.

White Ibis, 5x7

This little guy is reappearing because he's on the Daily Painter Originals site on Monday. It's been a big weekend; Father's Day, Hap's birthday, and we went to hear our son Chad and the band "Artificial Red" play. I never cease to be amazed at how good they are. Chad, Devin, Gareth, Tommy: You Rock! Literally.

Cozy Radishes, 5x7

I bought these radishes for their beauty rather than their taste. Radishes really have personalities, don't they? I enjoyed painting this. I need to get back to my big bird series--not Big Bird, but a series of bigger paintings of birds in the Everglades. I'll squeeze it in somehow...maybe next week...

Daisies, 5x7

There's nothing like painting flowers with my friends--or painting anything with my friends. They are the weekly spark that keeps me going. I need a spark, because I have recently suspected my Wii Fit Plus of lying. I am positive I weigh less than it says, and I wonder if it has some hidden agenda. I'm sure Weight Watchers wouldn't treat me like this. I did check my weight at Curves, I did not gain any, so my Wii Fit has some explaining to do!

Banana Peppers, 5x7

I love shopping at my favorite produce market, but sometimes it's hard to figure out what you're buying, because very little English is spoken there. The other day I was delighted to find some "Eye Beans." I recognized them as fresh blackeyed peas. They are a lot of work to shell, but so worth it. Yum! I also picked up these peppers and some radishes which will appear in a future post.

White Pelicans, 12x4

When will I learn to simplify? I am attracted to complicated lines and shapes, and that is hardly ideal for a daily painter! I couldn't resist this one, though, with all the reflections of the pelicans all in a row. This was in the Everglades, and there was an alligator sneaking up slowly in the water, but the birds had an eye on him and gave him a wide berth when he came near.

Chocolate Pudding, 5x7

This wasn't exactly in keeping with my diet, but I enjoyed it anyway. Now my Wii Fit will nag me. It actually tells me if I gain a pound, then it asks me why. It even provides excuses: Did you eat too much? Are you snacking at night? Are you eating too fast? I can't complain, though. I am the kind of person who needs to be accountable to someone, even if it's a machine.

Hap's Tomatoes, 4x4

I am excited to announce that I am part of a new daily painters site, Daily Painter Originals. I am in the company of some fabulous artists, including my Pieces of 8 buddy Carol Schiff. The wonderful artist Carolyn Finnell has put in some long hours to put the site together and get online in record time. I hope the Daily Painter Originals website will become one of your favorites!

Above is a tiny painting, only 4x4, of tomatoes from my husband's garden. We're having a problem with them falling off the vine, so if anyone knows a solution, please let me know.

Pile of Pears, 5x7

This is the result of an afternoon of happy camaraderie painting with my peeps. I will soon be on a Daily Painter site, so there will be a lot of these small paintings coming out of my studio.

The Lonely Radish, 5x7

I painted with my friends yesterday and the subject was food. I love all the diagonal lines surrounding this radish. When I left to come home the weather went bad, and I drove home in wind, blinding rain, flooded streets and hail. It was a veritable frog-strangler.

Egret in Grass, 8x10

This one doesn't compare to the previous painting, but it's a "daily" painting so it really isn't supposed to. It is quite a challenge to be a daily painter and paint a series of larger paintings too, and keep up with marketing (by this I mean promoting my work, and I also mean going to the grocery store for food to sustain us).
