Windmill, 6x9 Mixed Media on Paper, Bronze and Black

I painted good-quality watercolor paper with bronze acrylic paint, then used liquid medium to transfer the windmill from a magazine print. I added the tulips to make it more interesting. It's too bad that the metallic effect of the bronze can't be fully appreciated when looking at it online.

Hot Cubans, 6x9 Oil on Panel Figurative Painting

This place serves excellent Cuban sandwiches, hence the title...what did you think I meant?

Okay, I confess: this title was stuck in my head before I painted the first stroke, and nothing else worked. These guys were waiters in a South Beach Cuban restaurant and I loved their casual pose as they were awaiting the dinner crowd.

Datura, 6x9 Oil Painting on Canvas Panel

This beautiful flower was blooming in Silver Springs State Park. I was peacefully painting the river while the glass bottom boat floated by, as well as the occasional kayaker. We artists took many pictures of the huge Angel Trumpet (otherwise known as Datura) plant.

Silver Springs is a beautifully maintained state park now, and well worth visiting.

Tangletree, 6x9 Original Pen and Ink Drawing

$45, Click to Purchase
This is a really good day, and that is because any day you are not having an intestinal virus is a really good day. I started my week in South Beach, a good way to start, but got sick after that. I still haven't the strength to stand at the easel, but I can still be creative with drawing. I did get to draw with my painting group today and that was really fun. Kathy gave us a good challenge, which we will finish next week.

Mary gave me a good one to add to my list of "why do we put up with this?":

No. 5: Packaging that cannot be opened no matter how you try; its clear plastic taunts you with a view of the completely unattainable product inside, mocking your frustrating attempts at entry.
