I am mining pictures I took of the gorgeous blooms at Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina for floral daily paintings. Sometimes I think I'd like to be locked away to just paint for days with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. It worked for Rembrandt, at least artistically, but he forgot to pay the bills. That was unfortunate, because he was quite the consumer.

This little watercolor is of a vine that grows in my garden and is making a comeback after being attacked by a hurricane. It is a 5x7-inch painting, matted to an 8x10 size, signed and ready to frame.

This is a giclee print of a watercolor that I am particularly fond of. The purple and green complementary colors and the warm sunshine backlighting her hair remind me of the day this child was opening a seed packet to plant flowers in the garden. It's a wonderful age, when you can tell a child what to do, and they actually do it. I miss that!

I need to send out a thank-you to all the Nigerian friends that I didn't know I had, who are just dying to send me millions of dollars. Every day there is a new email from these generous people. For some reason they are just loaded and they can't wait to share their wealth with their special friend, me. It's hard to believe anyone would fall for the scam, but some must or they wouldn't keep sending these things. My last offer was from a woman who wanted to send me exactly $10,500,000 dollars.

Suzanne's Hollyhocks, 7X5

My daughter Suzanne is a fantastic gardener, and she raised these hollyhocks that are so dark they look black from a distance. She definitely has my grandmother's green thumb.

There are two reasons I like this painting. I love the colors; and I grew the blueberries, which is a bit unusual for Florida. I heard you need two bushes, so I bought another one. Maybe my crop will be bigger next year. Bigger than seven (there's one more berry that you can't see).

Candy kisses are the cutest candies ever. They just have a perky look, with their jaunty little paper ribbons coming out of their heads. If they had heads.

Dappled Road, 6x8

This is from the mountains of North Carolina, a winding, bumpy road with great shadows and light. I had to stop in the middle of the road and take pictures. I love dappled, unpaved roads. It was just another beautiful day in the mountains for the Pieces of 8.
