Biltmore House, 5x7

We visited the Biltmore House on a rainy day in Spring. This magnificent place was so beautiful with the wet reflections on the pavement. You have to admire Anderson Cooper, descendant of the Vanderbilts, for working so hard and at times putting himself in danger to do his job. He could have just sat back and enjoyed being a Vanderbilt.

Life Gives You Lemons, 6x8

The Pieces of 8 painting group went back to still life for a day, and this was the result for me. Lemons always challenge me for some reason. I'd rather paint a river. However, I will soon be learning about still life at the workshop this weekend with the great Qiang Huang at our artists' guild. I'm so excited!

Umbrellas, 5x7 Oil

These umbrellas are at a restaurant called Squid Lips on the river in Melbourne, Florida, and I enjoy seeing them when I drive over the bridge. I like the pastel chairs too. I just finished a big project and I really enjoyed getting back to the daily painting. Before I committed to being a daily painter, I saw it as daunting and wasn't sure I could keep up. Now it's just part of the rhythm of a day, although it is still daunting. A sensible daily painter would not paint a complicated scene like this one. I'll learn eventually.
