Even though I am a native Floridian, the Smoky Mountains have been a big part of my life. Every year my painting group,
Pieces of 8, has an artists' retreat, usually in the Smokies. I used to live in Knoxville in the summertime when I was a teenager, and I spent a lot of time in the Smokies, and more recently my husband and I spent three months in Knoxville and enjoyed weekend trips to the mountains. It's a magical place.

ReplyDeleteI love that feeling of "purple mountains majesty". When I'm driving home here in Maine I see vistas like this quite a bit and often start singing. Your painting evokes that same feeling.

ReplyDeleteI, too, lived in Knoxville, for like 30 years! Been in CA for 5 years now. And I miss the Smoky Mountains a lot.
