Picture this: the weather is perfect, the sun is setting, the view is incredible, the company is great. Ahhh...that is San Miguel de Allende. Sooner or later I will return to painting other locations, but I need to get all this out of my system while I am inspired. 

In between all this painting, I am proud to say that I got rid of those darn weeds in my yard. Pulled every last one. Of course, they are starting up again where I started. It's a vicious cycle, but I need the exercise. In San Miguel there was a yard man. Sigh.

Our rooftop garden in San Miguel Allende was a delightful place to unwind at the end of the day, and the sunsets were beautiful. I loved the rosebud silhouetted against the sky. The rooftop garden held roses, bougainvilleas, margaritas, and good company.

Low Country Sunset, 6x6

South Carolina marshes are so much fun to paint. I'd like to paint more of them, but you know how it is...so many subjects, so little time. This one me feel better after I painted an unsuccessful painting earlier this week. I hate to admit it, but better painters than I have admitted such things. In fact, it was a floral painting and as I gaze upon it now, it looks more and more like a "scraper." I think I need to work on painting flowers, but there are so many other things, like water: seascapes, ponds, rivers, waterfalls, and, of course, marshes.

Rome Sunset, 5x7

This is a good memory, a view of Rome at night from the Hassler Hotel above the Spanish Steps. My sister and I had a fabulous vacation there. There is old, and then there is seriously old. Rome is seriously old. When our taxi pulled up to the Roman Forum we each gave an audible gasp when confronted with such antiquity, such history, and the visible remnants of the Glory that was Rome.

Sunset Surf, 5x7

We have beautiful sunrises here on the East Coast, but we also have nice sunsets. We do get some color from the setting sun. This was the big surf from Hurricane Earl as it passed by.
