I was recently in Washington D.C. and visited the National Gallery of Art, where I got to see Sargent's painting, Nonchaloir (Repose), a painting I love so much that I copied it years ago (see below.) It is one painting I will never sell. It was a thrill to finally get to see it in person!

Repose, 20x24 Oil on Canvas, after John Singer Sargent
Not For Sale
There are few paintings of mine that I won't sell, but this is one. I always loved this piece by John Singer Sargent, and I copied it in worshipful awe of his skills.
Christmas was eventful and I was sick. I didn't realize I was allergic to our tree. When it dawned on me that might be a possibility I looked it up and the Christmas Tree Association has warnings, saying you should wash your tree before bringing it inside. We tossed it after everyone went home, then left the next day for Anna Maria Island, and I had a quick recovery--so much so that I was playing baseball by late afternoon!

The Breakfast Table, Oil, after Sargent
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I couldn't stockpile many paintings to post before leaving for the Pieces of 8 artists' retreat, so I am reaching into the past. A few years ago the Pieces of 8 spent months painting copies of the masters as a learning exercise. This was my copy of one of my favorites by John Singer Sargent.

Amy Winehouse, 8x6 Oil on Canvas Panel
How sad that Amy Winehouse died before producing more great music. I never tire of listening to her while I'm painting, and I was so hoping she'd get better and do more albums.
$75
Prints are available at Fine Art America.

Repose, 24 x 20, after Sargent
I went into the archives for this one. I painted this copy of a John Singer Sargent painting as a learning exercise. The original is hanging in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. This one is hanging over my fireplace, which is also fake (I live in Florida).
